All Hallows and That Stuff....

Hello! Well, Halloween has just gone... Halloween being, of course, the 'een (eve) of Hallows day, a.k.a All Saints' Day, or, if you prefer, the Mexican Day of the Dead. We don't tend to carve pumpkins at Halloween, so it is fun to look for alternative ways of attracting the attention of near-by trick-or-treaters (I would love to know if anyone actually says Trick...) So this year I chose two of my most orangey candles (part of a collection I can't usually bear to burn, sob) and sacrificed them.... They actually burnt in about three hours, which was pretty good, as they were quite small. But as they did burn, they began to drip wax which actually looked really cool. We still can't lever the second candle off our windowsill, so for now it is there to stay.

We had to snap off the wax as it dripped down the 'sill, as otherwise it would have been lost, but anyway it made these really cool firey-shapes! Later, I got wax that had formed into a kind of baton, about 30cm long. Anyhoo, that was a bit random, but Happy Halloween, Bonfire Night, etcetera!
(Heh. I told you the candles would be back...)
